Renewal & CEU requirements
AFAA states the Indoor Cycling Instructor certification is maintained by submitting 1.5 continuing education units, a renewal application and fees every 2 years. AFAA's recertify page similarly requires at least 1.5 approved hours/units of CE per two-year cycle, submitted via the online Recertification Portal, with recertification fees paid in the portal. The course itself awards 1.2 AFAA CEUs (1.2 NASM CEUs). CPR/AED and specific fee amounts are documented in the AFAA-CGFI guidelines, not in the Indoor Cycling evidence.
CEU recognition
- NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) — reciprocalAFAA course CEUs are stated in equivalent terms for both bodies (1.2 AFAA CEUs = 1.2 NASM CEUs); courses completed through NASM & AFAA auto-populate in the Recertification Portal.
- AFAA (non-AFAA-approved providers/courses) — petition acceptedPer AFAA-CGFI recertification guidelines: non-AFAA-approved continuing education courses reviewed by petition only, with a $25 non-refundable administrative fee per course/event petitioned.
