Application must be submitted on or before the license expiration date; license renews annually. If the deadline is missed, contact the Education Department within 30 days to avoid losing qualifications; 30 days or more past the deadline requires the Late Renewal Process (no PDCs needed, pass exam or submit case history, US$120 fee), after which the license is renewed for a one-year period starting when conferred.

Completing HLC Level 1 confers a CHEK license (all students receive the Individual Professional License upon completing a course; HLC-only track = CHEK Professional License). Annual renewal steps: earn 15 PDCs during the license period (listing course name, organisation, PDC value, completion date), submit the online renewal application, pay the licensing fee, hold current hands-on CPR certification and current liability insurance, and submit on time. Facility and Medical license types require 15 PDCs as well.
