Renewal is available beginning 90 days before the certification expiration date and up to 6 months after expiration; the new certificate expires two years from the date the renewal exam is passed. Failure to renew within 6 months after expiration requires retaking the full certification exam.

Renewal is accomplished by purchasing and passing the $25 FiTOUR Continuing Education Credit (renewal) course exam (25 multiple choice/true-false questions, 3 consecutive hour limit, 75% passing, one attempt; retest available for $25 within 6 months). No specific number of CEUs/contact hours is stated for renewal. If not renewed within 6 months of expiration, recertification requires the 100-question certification exam for $49.99 (retests $25 each).
