Annual CEU requirement (6 CEU per year); alternatively 30 CEUs every five years. Active paid ISSN membership must be maintained continuously; certification remains valid only 1 year if membership is not maintained.

ISSN randomly audits ISSN-SNS holders for evidence of CEU compliance, so proof of registration/completion must be retained. CEUs are self-reported via the member portal under 'CERTIFICATIONS' > 'CEU Reporting' (ISSN Event, Non-ISSN Event, or ISSN CEU Exam). Sample CEU values: present at national/regional ISSN conference 6; serve as officer/volunteer 6; publish in JISSN 6; attend US National ISSN conference 13-15; international ISSN conference 6; regional ISSN workshop 3-6; ISSN webinars 3-6; one online CEU quiz per year 6; approved non-ISSN event 3. A $49 processing fee per event applies if a conference CEU certificate is not collected at the conference and is requested later. Online CEU exam registration is $249 (all member types, per CEUexamsDetails page); online CEU quizzes are listed at $149 member / $229 non-member and satisfy the requirement for one year (energy-drink quiz page states two years).
