Deadline rule

CEUs must be completed and renewal submitted through the Student Portal before the certification expiration date (certifications valid 2 years). May renew up to one year early, with the new period starting from the original expiration date. One-year grace period after expiration to renew with a late fee; after more than one year, re-enrollment in the full certification course is required.

Requirements: 20 CEUs, current CPR/AED certification (valid at time of renewal; must be valid at least 30 days beyond submission date), and submission via Student Portal (My Account → Renewal); processing takes 3–5 business days. Standard renewal fee $99, which may be waived if all 20 CEUs are completed through ISSA. Excess CEUs cannot be carried to the next period. ISSA-completed CEUs are auto-tracked; third-party CEUs must be uploaded with certificate of completion, transcript with grade, or proof of attendance and are subject to review. 'Certify for Life' option can eliminate future renewal fees. Renewal/recertification and recertification late fees are nonrefundable.
