Certification valid 2 years; may renew up to 6 months before expiration while keeping original date. 6-month grace period after expiration (late fee applies); after 6 months the certification is forfeited unless a $75 extension (additional 90-day grace period) is obtained, otherwise the course must be retaken.

20 CEC hours required from courses taken after the certification's renewal date; excess hours above 20 do not carry over. CECs can come from SCW live/online certifications, MANIA conventions, SCW Approved Providers, and fitness-related accredited college/university courses. CPR credits are not accepted toward the 20 CECs and a CPR card copy is no longer required. Non-approved courses can be petitioned for approval ($25 base review fee).
