Certification valid 2 years; may renew up to 6 months before expiration and keep original expiration date. CECs must be earned after the certification's renewal date; excess hours above 20 do not carry over. A $20 late fee applies if not renewed by the expiration date; 6-month grace period after expiration, after which the certification is forfeited and the course must be retaken (or an extension applied for).

Renewal requires submitting 20 hours of CECs earned after the prior renewal date. Per the CEC video FAQ, 2 of the 20 CECs must come from SCW Fitness (MANIA conferences, SCW CEC online video courses, or SCW online certifications). CPR card copy is no longer required and CPR credits do not count toward the 20 CECs. The Functional Flexibility Online Certification itself awards SCW 8.0, AFAA 8.0, NASM 0.8, AEA 2.0, ACSM 8.0, ACE 0.7 credits.
