Two attempts to pass; if you do not pass after two attempts you can apply for an extension and retake the exam by contacting SCW. No time limit on the exam (can stop and resume); typically takes about one hour. Extension beyond the 60-day window requires a $75 fee.

Certification valid 2 years. May renew up to 6 months before expiration and keep original date. If not renewed by expiration a $20 late fee applies; renewal possible up to 6 months after expiration, after which the certification is forfeited unless a $75 extension (90-day grace) is granted or the course is retaken.

20 hours of CECs must be earned from courses taken after the certification's renewal date; excess hours above 20 do not carry over. CPR card copy no longer required and CPR credits are not accepted toward the 20 CECs. Acceptable CECs: SCW live/online certifications, MANIA conventions, SCW Approved Providers/MANIA sponsors, and fitness-related college/university courses.
