Two attempts to pass. If you do not pass after two attempts, you can apply for an extension and retake the exam by contacting SCW. Extensions beyond the 60-day window require a $75 fee.

Certification valid 2 years. May renew up to 6 months before expiration and keep original expiration date. CECs must be earned after the certification's renewal date; excess hours above 20 do not carry over. Up to 6 months after expiration renewal is allowed with a $20 late fee; after 6 months the certification is forfeited unless an extension ($75 for an additional 90-day grace period) is obtained, otherwise the course must be retaken.

20 hours of CECs required every 2 years; 1 CEC awarded per contact hour (breaks/lunch excluded). CECs may come from SCW live/online certifications, MANIA conventions, SCW Approved Providers, MANIA sponsors, and fitness-related accredited college/university courses. CPR credits are NOT accepted toward the 20 CECs and a CPR card copy is no longer required. Non-approved courses can be petitioned for SCW CEC approval ($25 base review fee). Multi-certification renewals use a dedicated online form; documentation of CECs must be retained.
