Certification valid 2 years; may renew up to 6 months before expiration while keeping original date. Six-month grace period after expiration (with $20 late fee); after 6 months the certification is forfeited and the course must be retaken (or an extension applied for). CECs must be earned after the certification's renewal date; excess hours beyond 20 do not carry over.

20 CEC hours required every 2 years; SCW awards 1 CEC per contact hour (breaks/lunch excluded). One source states 2 of the 20 credits must come from SCW Fitness. CECs can be earned at MANIA conventions, SCW live/online certifications, SCW CEC online video courses, SCW Approved Providers, or fitness-related college/university courses. CPR credits are not accepted toward the 20 CECs and a CPR card copy is no longer required.
