Certification valid 2 years; may renew up to 6 months before expiration and keep original date. $20 late fee if renewed after expiration; 6-month grace period after expiration, after which the credential is forfeited unless an extension ($75 for an additional 90 days) is granted — otherwise the course must be retaken.

20 hours of CECs must be earned from courses taken after the certification's renewal date; excess hours beyond 20 do not carry over to the next period. CPR credits are not accepted toward the 20 CECs and a CPR card copy is no longer required. CECs can be earned via MANIA conventions, other SCW live/online certifications, SCW Approved Providers, or fitness-related college/university courses.
