Certification valid 2 years; CECs must be earned after the certification's renewal date and excess hours beyond 20 do not carry over. May renew up to 6 months before expiration while keeping original expiration date. Up to 6 months after expiration renewal is allowed with a $20 late fee; after 6 months the certification is forfeited and the course must be retaken (or an extension applied for).

SCW no longer requires proof of CPR and CPR credits are NOT accepted toward the 20 required CECs. Acceptable CECs: SCW live/online certifications, MANIA® conventions, SCW Approved CEC Providers (incl. MANIA sponsors), and fitness-related college/university courses. Non-approved courses can be petitioned for SCW CEC approval for a $25 base review fee. Renewal is completed via SCW's online renewal form; retain documentation of CECs earned.
