Certification valid 2 years; may renew up to 6 months before expiration while keeping original date. Late renewal allowed within 6 months after expiration (with late fee); after 6 months the certification is forfeited and the course must be retaken (or an extension applied for).

Must submit 20 hours of CECs earned after the certification's renewal date; excess hours beyond 20 do not carry over. CECs can come from SCW live/online certifications, MANIA conventions, SCW Approved Providers, and fitness-related college/university courses. CPR credits are not accepted toward the 20 CECs and a CPR card copy is no longer required. Non-approved courses can be petitioned for approval ($25 base review fee).
