Deadline rule
Certificate valid two years from date of issue; CECs must be earned between issue date and expiration. NETA advises submitting renewal two months prior to expiration. Automatic 180-day reinstatement grace period after expiration (status 'expired'); if grace period lapses, must retake course/exam and pass to regain the credential.

10 CECs per 2-year cycle, at least 6 earned directly from NETA workshops or NETA home study courses. Non-NETA CECs require Certificate of Completion (name, activity, date, CECs, provider/course number). CPR/AED must include live hands-on practical skills evaluation (in-person or virtual); online-only not accepted, and CPR/AED courses award no CECs. Excess CECs beyond 10 do not carry to the next period. Renewal by mail or online.
