Certificate valid two years from date of issue; CECs must be earned between issue date and expiration. NETA advises submitting the renewal packet two months prior to expiration. Automatic 180-day reinstatement grace period after expiration (status is 'expired'), with late fees; if the grace period lapses, the workshop/course must be retaken and the exam passed again.

Requires 10 CECs per 2-year cycle, at least 6 of which must come from NETA workshops or NETA home study courses purchased directly from NETA. Must submit renewal application, photocopies of Certificates of Completion for all CECs, a photocopy of adult CPR/AED card (front and back) from a recognized provider (e.g., AHA, ARC, ASHI, NSC) that included a live hands-on practical skills evaluation (fully online CPR not accepted), and the fee. CPR/AED courses do not award NETA CECs. Excess CECs beyond 10 do not carry over to a future cycle. Renewal can be completed online or by mail; allow 30 days for the new certificate.
