Deadline rule
Certificate valid 2 years from date of issue; all 10 CECs must be earned between issue date and expiration. Renewal applications accepted up to 90 days before expiration (NETA advises mailing ~2 months prior); new expiration set 2 years from previous expiration date. Automatic 180-day reinstatement grace period after expiration (status is 'expired') with late fees; if grace period lapses, the workshop/course must be retaken and the exam passed again.

10 CECs per 2-year cycle, at least 6 of which must be earned directly from NETA workshops or NETA home study/online courses; remaining CECs may come from ACE, NASM, AFAA, or petition-approved courses. Excess CECs cannot carry over. Renewal packet: application, photocopies of Certificates of Completion for all CECs, copy of adult CPR/AED card (front and back) from a recognized provider (AHA, ARC, ASHI, NSC) that included a live hands-on skills evaluation (online-only CPR not accepted), and fee. CPR/AED courses award no CECs. CECs may count toward renewal of multiple NETA certifications if earned within that credential's 2-year period.
