Certificate valid two years from date of issue; CECs must be earned between issue date and expiration; NETA advises submitting renewal two months prior to expiration. Automatic 180-day reinstatement grace period (status 'expired') with late fees; after grace period lapses, must retake the workshop/course and pass the exam.
10 CECs per 2-year cycle, of which at least 6 must come from NETA workshops or home study courses purchased directly from NETA. Adult CPR/AED certification with live hands-on skills evaluation (in-person or virtual) required at renewal; online-only CPR not accepted and CPR courses award no CECs. Excess CECs do not carry over to a future cycle. Submit renewal application online or by mail with copies of CEC certificates of completion, CPR/AED card, and fee.
