Deadline rule
Certificate valid two years from date of issue; CECs must be earned between issue date and expiration date. NETA advises mailing the renewal packet two months prior to expiration. Automatic 180-day reinstatement grace period after expiration (status is 'expired'); if grace period lapses, the workshop/course must be retaken and exam passed to regain the credential.

At least 6 of the 10 CECs must be earned from NETA workshops or home study courses purchased directly from NETA. Renewal requires the application, photocopies of Certificates of Completion for all CECs (name, activity, date, CECs awarded, provider/course number), a photocopy of a current Adult CPR/AED card (front and back) from a recognized provider (e.g., AHA, ARC, ASHI, NSC) that included a live hands-on skills evaluation (fully online CPR not accepted), and the fee. CPR/AED courses do not award NETA CECs. Excess CECs beyond 10 do not carry over to a future cycle. Renewal can be completed online or by mail; incomplete applications are returned; allow 30 days for the new certificate.
